Finesse & Fury is an advanced developmental cycling program for young endurance track cyclists with up to national and international ambitions. This program draws on scientific training and 20+ years of experience from grassroots to Olympic-level competition to provide athletes with the comprehensive backing they need to enter and thrive in the elite ranks. It is a combination of pursuing tactical precison and unrelenting drive – finesse and fury.
Advanced/ages 15-29 are preferred in this program. The Coach will utilize discretion when placing an athlete into this or another developmental program. The program is a natural progression from Momentum & Mastery, for those athletes who have the deepest interest in pursuing endurance track cycling. But entry into this program is possible without this specific previous experience. For those who have the most interest in competitive/recreational road cycling or track sprint programs, other recommendations will be made.
The program is designed to provide comprehensive coaching support. Training programs are individualized, coming together as a narrowly-focused peer group as often as is beneficial. Training is scientific and tailored but a consistent group setting fosters a competitive yet supportive atmosphere – athletes challenge each other to rise to higher standards while sharing encouragement, accountability, and a strong sense of camaraderie. The following services, therefore, are included but not limited to: a written program with unlimited coach athlete communication, personal and group sessions for track, road and strength training, motorpacing on the road and track, track racing and road training race tactics support, video analysis and review, educational presentations, independent use of the Kim Geist Academy, training/racing camps, access to and integration with resource partners (physical therapy, sports psychology, etc.), partner team benefits.
The program is tailored to the age and maturity of the athlete. On average five to seven days of training per week are typical, including at least two in-person sessions per week. Workouts and scheduling are shared via a TrainingPeaks calendar.
The Kim Geist Academy is utilized for indoor cycling, strength training, presentations, and meetings. Track cycling is held at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center, “The Bicycle Racing Capital of the World”. Road training is completed on immediately accessible prime rural roads and the Bob Rodale Cycling and Fitness Park, a closed criterium course, is also a valuable resource.
This program marks a point when cycling is a top priority. A strong commitment to the sport and everything that goes into being successful is expected, with an understanding of needing to integrate with school, work, family, etc. In addition to commiting to giving best efforts to the training and preparations, maintaining a strong character is an expectation of the program. Athletes are expected to interact with each other and lead with humility, respect, and integrity and, through a work-study component, they give back by contributing to the program itself and supporting their local cycling community, reinforcing the values built on the bike.
All strength and indoor cycling equipment is provided. A personal road and track bike are required as well as track bike gearing. A power meter on at least the road bike is needed. Contact us for available discounts.
Kelly Benefits Strategies partners with us to provide support to those program participants who wish to join. The club/team helps to facilitate non performance-based athlete needs including race entry fees, racing and training uniforms, track-specific race wheels and equipment, and more.
